about

Caela-"’Bluebird’ was written by the magnificent bass player, Rob Moitoza, was the first song I ever sang in front of an audience at St. Clouds restaurant in Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood. I originally recorded it with the DuCaniveaux band when I was 13. I used to listen to Rob’s version on a cassette tape player over and over on my headphones and it was my favorite song as a kid. He recorded it in a really incredible gospel way that showed his range as a singer. I don’t remember how it got changed into a reggae tune along the way. I think someday I will try to record it again in the style he did-slower and more vocal heavy. I always sing it as a lullaby to the kids in my life-the message is just so powerful.

lyrics

Listen to the bluebird
To the bluebird sing
He sings a song to cheer your day
And then he flies away

Although its stormy weather
He don’t seem to care
He just spreads his wings and flies into the air
He knows the sun will shine again
And it won’t be very long
‘Til he lifts his voice and sings a happy song

Listen to the bluebird
To the bluebird sing
He sings a song to cheer your day
And then he flies away
